I worked in one of the largest tech agencies in the country and though most people would think it was one of the most awesome jobs you could have its quite monotonous. Sitting in front of the computer staring at the monitor the entire day doesn’t make for much excitement. However, in spite of this I loved my job and was an absolute workaholic. It had been months since I had taken a holiday or even been anywhere out of town as all I wanted to do during the weekends was sit at home and catch up on all the sleep I could. However, I was fed up of doing that and was in desperate need to going on a vacation or at least somewhere just for the weekend. So when my I found out my cousin from Mumbai was coming down to spend the week with me I thought the best way to pass the weekend would be to make a quick road trip.
We decided to drive down to a place called Warangal which is about 145kms from Hyderabad. I woke up at 6am on Saturday morning and picked up my rucksack and was ready to go. Me and my cousin neatly stowed our luggage in the boot of my car and were away. We aimed to reach our destination in three hours including a pit stop or two. After crossing the NTR garden we continued onto the NH-202 for at least another 50kms. We stopped at this place called Bhongir and ate the most wonderful south Indian breakfast which comprised of idli’s, dosa and sambhar. We got back on the road and continued driving for another 60km or so, we crossed Ippagudem and Pendial and were just a few kms away from Warangal. Upon arriving in Warangal we straight went to the hotel where I had already booked a room for us to spend the night. The hotel staff greeted us warmly and showed us to our room. We dumped our bags in the room and drove around 10kms to the Warangal fort where we stared in awe at the gigantic stone gateways which displayed some fantastic carvings. After this we went back to the hotel to catch up on some sleep.
While lying in bed I thought to myself what a good idea this road trip was and how I should make such weekend getaways more often. I was pleased with the performance of my Omni, not for a second did I feel unsure about my car on the highway. I would regard my car to be the best Maruti Family Car and would strongly recommend it to all.
